This was an awesome and amazing book of several wonderful little moral tales, mostly told from the perspective of cleverly anthropomorphized animals such as inhabit the woods of New England. The stories are witty, and clever. There are subtle puns and the characters are keenly portrayed.

I also found that the attitude and morals are almost surprisingly in line with those of today--although there was more mention of death than you'd find in a contemporary book of children's tales.

I'd totally recommend reading this, and reading it to any and all small children that you can get to sit still long enough to listen.

Exquisite! Harriet Beecher Stowe is in a class of her own. Queer Little Folks is a true classic. loved it, love it!
Delightful and captivating short stories, beautifully written. Quaint in style, it is easily read and very enjoyable. A breath of fresh air.
Good classic, lots of stories that all have meanings to relate to us. Liked how it was separated into stories! Loved it
I loved the whimsical, light-hearted style of Stowe in these stories for children. Each one has a moral, but charmingly presented.
i simply did not find it interesting did not read the whole book
Harriet Beecher Stowe was far ahead of her time in many ways. In a really fun and delightful way she deals with fair treatment of others. She takes on issues of race, gender and even the way we regard animals and reptiles in a fun and intriguing way.

A few of the stories got a little repetitive in their moral lessons but her writing is so clever and compelling that I was able to overlook it. She has a wonderful style and I love the way she can take on any voice and any perspective. This would be a great book to read to elementary kids but also its a great book for adults interested in reading cleverly written, very short, short stories.
There is an education here for people who read only contemporary "stories" to children. Fantastic tales by a woman we all need to know and most will come to love.
