The two characters in this story are polar opposites. Maylee (just her name says it all) is southern through and through. She's so unworldly, it hardly seems possible, but she's sweet, out-going, determined, and simply full of heart. Griffin is a highly educated, reclusive, royal personage from some obscure country. He is jaded and cynical and sees people as nuisances. Jessica Clare, how you create chemistry between these two is a mystery, but you do. Sweet, fairy tale romance; I couldn't put it down.
I have been looking forward to reading Griffin’s story for so long and I can tell you I was so happy I got to read this book. His assistant became ill and he needed some help while going home to the royal wedding. His friend gives him one of his assistance Maylee and she is so much of a red neck hick, it made me laugh throughout the entire book. Maylee will never run away from people that she will take people making fun of her and laughing before she would run. Maylee does everything she can do to make sure that Griffin has everything that he needs. While Griffin hates Maylee in the beginning but while in his home country he falls in love with her. Will they end up together or will Griffin’s life be too much for her to handle? This is such a good cute romance book, you need to check this book out!
This is one of those books that, when you finish, you put it down and just sigh happily. It was for me, anyway. I can't come up with any negatives about this story. Maylee was sweet but determined, Griffin was pompous but lonely. Yes, he treated her like dirt for a while, and yes she had some "southern-isms" that were a little cliche, but overall this was an extremely enjoyable book. Personally, I liked it far more than the last one with Reece and Audrey. Griffin and Maylee were perfect together, and I loved watching them get their HEA. Also liked the little preview of Johnathan's story, coming up next!
I had forgotten that I had pre-ordered this book and was pleasantly surprised when I found it on my kindle. I started right away and could not put it down! It reminded me of the romance novels I used to read when I was younger and began my lifelong journey with romance because of them. This is one that I will read again along with the rest. One thing that I did find really annoying was Gretchen. She was truly obnoxious and really pissed me off. I expected to have something happen to her after what she did to Maylee. Let's just say that if she really "cared" for her than she would not have done what she did. It seemed cruel and belittling to me and it was truly a disservice to Maylee. But in the end Griffin and Maylee got their fairytale ending and that made the book enjoyable for me. I just could have done without Gretchen and her obnoxious behavior or I would have enjoyed Maylee letting Gretchen get her comeuppance for using her to play a cruel joke on Griffin. Maybe it's just me but Gretchen's behavior in the last book and this one really did not sit well with me. Oh well. Other than that I do wish that it had been longer because I do like Maylee and I am glad that Griffin found someone like her.
